This Mother's Day, make up for all the times you drove your mom nuts by winning a scholarship that can help pay for college. Here are ten May scholarships to get you started.

Healthy Eating Scholarship Program

Award: $500 to $1,500 (3 winners)
Deadline: 5/15/16
Eligibility: U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents who are current high school seniors, college undergrads, or grad students.
How to apply: Submit a brief 500- to 1,000-word essay about healthy food choices.

Jane Austen Society of North America Essay Contest

Award: $250 to $1,000 (3 winners)
Deadline: 5/15/16
Eligibility: International or U.S. students who are in high school, college, or grad school.
How to apply: Write a 6- to 8-page paper on the theme, “No one but herself,” with insight into Jane Austen’s artistry, ideas, and values.

Brower Youth Award

Award: $3,000 (6 winners)
Deadline: 5/16/16
Eligibility: Reside in North America or the U.S. territories and be between the ages of 13 and 22.
How to apply: Describe an environmental conservation, preservation, or restoration project that you had a leadership role in.

Google Science Fair Contest

Award: $10,000 to $50,000 (5 winners)
Deadline: 5/17/16
Eligibility: International or U.S. students between the ages of 13 and 18.
How to apply: Submit a science fair project online (as individual or with a group).

PicMonkey College Scholarship

Award: $1,000
Deadline: 5/31/16
Eligibility: Residents of the U.S. or Canada who are also high school seniors (class of 2016) or college freshmen.
How to apply: Complete an online survey, submit a photo, and write a 250- to 500-word essay.

MyBioSource Inc. Scholarship for All Majors

Award: $1,000 (5 winners)
Deadline: 5/31/16
Eligibility: Students who will be enrolled in an accredited college or university as undergrad or grad students in fall 2016.

Eligibility: U.S. students who are high school seniors (graduating from high school in 2016) or current college freshmen, sophomores, or juniors.
How to apply: Write a 400- to 500-word essay about college students and the new “sharing economy” companies (like Uber, Lyft, Airbnb, and Rover).

Fifth Month Scholarship

Award: $1,500
Deadline: 5/31/16
Eligibility: U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents who are 13 years of age or older.
How to apply: Write a letter to the number 5 explaining why 5 is important (up to 250 words; be serious or funny; be original).
