American University on this year's ranking list:
It’s no surprise that American University, located in the nation’s capital, would have some impressive political figures included in its faculty. Members include Ralph Nader, whom you might remember from his five presidential runs as a Green party candidate or his charming guest appearance on Sesame Street; Joe Clark, Canada's sixteenth Prime Minister; and Jackie Norris, the Chief of Staff to none other than First Lady Michelle Obama. The schools proximity to
so many government institutions also guarantees a list of speakers that would make a politically minded student at another school green with envy: think Sen. John Kerry, President Jimmy Carter, Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Stephen Breyer – and that is truly just a small sampling of an extremely impressive list. Washington DC is often seen as a city built on connections, and it seems American University has the foundation for some impressive ones.
