Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be a full-time student.
  5. Must be a member of Women in Aviation, International (WAI) by Nov. 1, and that membership must remain current through March. Please note: Both men and women are eligible to join WAI.
  6. Must be currently enrolled in an aerospace/aeronautical, electrical, or mechanical engineering program.
  7. Must be a college junior or senior with a minimum of two semesters remaining.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The Delta Air Lines Engineering Scholarship is available to members of Women in Aviation, International who are currently enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program in aerospace/aeronautical, electrical, or mechanical engineering. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens, and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the Delta Air Lines Engineering Scholarship are:

  • Aviation licenses (copies)
Additional Information: All scholarships, unless otherwise noted, will be awarded at the Annual International Women in Aviation Conference. Delta will provide a trip to the conference for the recipient of this award, to include round-trip airfare, hotel accomodations, and conference fee. Please note: Students may only receive one scholarship per year.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available on the Women in Aviation, International (WAI) website. A complete application packet must include three stapled sets of the following (one original and two copies): a completed application form; two recommendation letters of one page each; a 500-word typed, descriptive essay; a professional resume; and copies of all aviation licenses and medical certificates, and the last three pages of the applicant's pilot logbook, if applicable. A separate application packet must be submitted for each scholarship for which the student wishes to apply. Students may apply for a maximum of two scholarships per year. Application packets must be sent to the address provided and must be submitted online or postmarked by the deadline date.
