Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a member of Women in Aviation, International (WAI) by Nov. 1, and that membership must remain current through March. Please note: Both men and women are eligible to join WAI.
  3. Must be a female.
  4. Must be over the age of 30.
  5. Must desire to learn to fly OR already have a pilot certificate (private, sport, or recreational) and want to pursue an advanced certificate or rating, i.e. commercial, instrument, etc.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The Diane Endres Ballweg Scholarship is available to women over the age of 30 who wish to learn how to fly or who already have a pilot certificate (private, sport, or recreational) and want to pursue an advanced certificate or rating. Applicants must be members of Women in Aviation, International.

Application requirements for the Diane Endres Ballweg Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Resume
  • Aviation documents
Additional Information: All scholarships, unless otherwise noted, will be awarded at the Annual International Women in Aviation Conference. Attendance at the conference is not required to receive a scholarship, but it is encouraged. Please note: Students may only receive one scholarship per year.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable. The scholarship award will be paid directly to the flight school to be applied to the recipient's account.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.
