Minnesota Office of Higher Education
This award provides reduced out-of-state tuition options at an eligible South Dakota public college or university. A student attending South Dakota State University, the University of South Dakota, or another South Dakota public four-year school pays the same tuition and fees as if he/she were attending a similar Minnesota school. A student attending a South Dakota technical school in Watertown, Mitchell, Sioux Falls, or Rapid City pays the South Dakota resident tuition and fee rate (students should contact the school directly for residency and tuition rates). A student attending a professional program at the University of South Dakota pays no more than 150 percent of the South Dakota resident tuition and fee rate. Reciprocity benefits will be automatically renewed each year as long as the student continues to attend an eligible school and earned credits in the previous 12 months from the same school.
The number of awards offered varies annually. In 2013, there were 3,180 Minnesota residents enrolled in South Dakota institutions under this program.
