Applicants must complete a project in the field of science, technology, mathematics, music, literature, philosophy, or a combination of these disciplines with a project considered 'Outside the Box.' Each submission must be a piece of original work recognized by experts in the field as "significant" AND it must have the potential to make a positive contribution to society. The following criteria will be used for the selection of Davidson Fellows: quality and scope of entry (50 points), the level of significance of the work (30 points), and the applicant's depth of knowledge and understanding of the work and the related domain area (20 points). Recipients must be available to attend, with at least one parent or guardian, the awards reception and other recognition events to be held in Washington D.C. (Travel expenses and lodging will be paid by the Davidson Institute.)
