Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a Woman.
  2. Must be 25 years of age or older.
  3. Must be residents of Colts Neck, Englishtown, Farmingdale, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Howell, Manalapan, Marlboro, Monroe Township or Morganville.
  4. Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program having completed a minimum of 60 credits OR enrolled in a graduate degree program having completed a minimum of six credits. The school AND program MUST be accredited by a regional accrediting association.
  5. Must have maintained a minimum grade point average (GPA) of “B”.

Additional Information: Since 1881, AAUW has worked as a national grassroots organization to improve the lives of millions of women and their families. As part of this goal, they offer a wide array of scholarships. The Lew Williams and Leila Sulkes Scholarships are awards of $2000 from the Freehold Branch of the AAUW, for the academic year 2020-2021 are available for qualified applicants. Named for outstanding volunteers, funding for the Lew Williams and Leila Sulkes Scholarships is contingent upon the amounts raised by the annual June AAUW Book Sale in Freehold, NJ.
