Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  2. Must e a high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student.
  3. Must deliver a speech on the topic of space travel and/or space exploration.
  4. Must be majoring in or planning to major in a STEM field.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students who are passionate about space exploration and planning to major in a STEM field.

Additional Information: The recipient must be available to speak at the 2020 Goddard Memorial Dinner in March of 2020. Travel and lodging for the recipient and one guest will be provided by the National Space Club.

Award Amount: $10,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

Applications and information about this award is available online at the National Space Club website. Upon completion of the online application form, students must upload a video on the topic "Why you are inspired by space." The video should be no longer than three minutes in length and should feature the applicant speaking directly to the camera. Videos must be formatted as MPEG-4 with H.264 & AAC (ie: the same standards used for YouTube and iTunes). Three students will be selected from the initial pool of applicants to participate in a final round. These students will provide a draft of the full 10 minute speech they would give at the Goddard Memorial Dinner as well as give a 5 minute sampling over Skype to the National Space Club executive committee at their January meeting. The student who presents the executive committee's favorite speeches will then be invited to give the keynote address at the National Space Club's annual Goddard Memorial Dinner. Applications and initial speeches must be submitted online, no later than the deadline date.
