Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in the Puget Sound area.
  2. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must be majoring in welding or a welding-related field.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. undergraduate students who reside in the Puget Sound area of Washington. Applicants must be pursuing education to further a career in welding.

Additional Information: This scholarship is provided annually to students in the Puget Sound area. Students must demonstrate a commitment to a career in welding, and potential for leadership and academic achievement. Unmet financial need may also be a consideration during scholarship selection.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available online on the American Welding Society (AWS) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must also submit the following: a personal statement describing the applicant's goals and interests; a signature from a financial aid official attesting to the student's financial needs, or a copy of the applicant's transcripts to prove academic merit; and a signature from a recommending instructor. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted to the local district by the deadline date. Students submitting to the national foundation should complete all applications by April 1 to allow extra time for processing.
