Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered each year may vary and is dependent on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a resident of Arizona.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must complete the 16 Core Competency Courses (as determined by the Arizona Board of Regents) and obtain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher OR, be ranked in the top 5% of the graduating high school class.
  4. Must exceed the nominal standards on the AIMS (assessment test administered in the state of Arizona) exams. The student must exceed standards on all three of the AIMS Exams (Reading, Writing, and Math) OR, exceed standards on two of the AIMS exams (Reading, Writing, and Math) and meet standards on one of the AIMS HS and receive a minimum score of three on any two Advanced Placement tests or a minimum score of 4 on any two International Baccalaureate exams.
  5. Must have a SAT score of 1300 (excluding essay) or higher OR, an ACT score of 28 or higher.
  6. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  7. Must graduate from a high school in Arizona.
  8. Must plan to attend Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, or the University of Arizona.
  9. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: This award is for Arizona resident undergraduate students who are attending either: Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University or the University of Arizona as a first time freshmen. The student must demonstrate academic excellence and complete a required core cirriculum.

Application requirements for the Regents High Honors Tuition Scholarship (AIMS) are:

Additional Information: The Arizona Board of Regent’s High Honors Tuition Scholarship (a.k.a. – AIMS Scholarship) is a university academic merit scholarship administered by the Arizona Department of Education on behalf of the Arizona Board of Regents. Scholarships must be utilized by the first Spring semester after a student graduates from high school, or upon successful completion of high school course work. Contact individual universities for exact deadlines for claiming award.

Award Amount: The value of the award is based on the cost of full-time resident tuition during the student's first year of enrollment. Qualified students will receive a 25% in-state university base tuition scholarship. The scholarship is renewable at the same fixed value for an additional 3 years (based upon meeting University established criteria) or until the completion of a bachelors degree.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $33,308.

Additional information about this award is available online at the Arizona Department of Education website and from high school guidance counselors. There is no application associated with this scholarship opportunity. Each college in Arizona is responsible for compiling a list of their students who meet the High Honors Scholarship criteria. Eligible colleges will provide a list of eligible students to the Arizona Department of Education by October 30th of each year. Students will be notified by the Arizona Department of Education of their conditional qualification of the tuition scholarship.
