Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a high school senior.
  4. Must attend a high school (public or parochial) located in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
  5. Must have been an active participant on his/her high school golf team in the senior year in high school AND have a written commitment to play on the college golf team, or plan to enter the Professional Golf Management (PGM) program, or plan to attend the PGA Club Professional School.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or 80 percent or higher on a 100 percent scale.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. high school seniors who attend a high school (public or parochial) located in Berks County, Pennsylvania, and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. The applicant must have been an active participant on his/her high school golf team in the senior year in high school, and have a written commitment to play on the college golf team, or plan to enter a professional golf management program, or plan to attend the PGA Club Professional School.

Additional Information: This fund was established in 2005 in memory of Greg Prosseda. All applicants will be notified in May. Berks County Community Foundation employees, board members and/or committee members are not eligible to apply for or be nominated for a scholarship offered by Berks County Community Foundation, nor are their immediate family members. However, immediate family members are eligible to be nominated and recognized as the recipient of a scholarship, but without the financial award of the scholarship. Immediate families include spouses; children, stepchildren, grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, and their respective spouses; siblings and their spouses; and ancestors. The ineligibility period for Berks County Community Foundation board members or employees and their family members extends five years after board service or employment terminates. The ineligibility period for committee members who are not Berks County Community Foundation staff or board is in effect only during their term of service and is only related to the committee on which they make decisions.

Award Amount: The award amount varies annually. Awards are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available on the Berks County Community Foundation (BCCF) website. All applicants must apply via the BCCF online application. Students must create an account to access the application. As part of the application, the student will be required to submit the following materials: an essay of 250 to 500 words that describes the coach, mentor, or teacher that has inspired him/her the most; documentation from his/her intended college regarding his/her eligibility for this award; and his/her most recent college transcript. Applications must be submitted by the deadline date.
