In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a high school senior, college freshman, or college sophomore at the time of application.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  4. Must be an active participant in at least one sport.

Description: This scholarship is available for high school seniors, college freshman, and college sophomores who are active participants in any sport. To apply, students must submit an essay about an experience overcoming adversity to achieve athletic success.

Additional Information: Sports Unlimited is dedicated to reaching further than the field, court, or diamond that you play on. To help students who share that goal, scholarships will be provided to those who share an inspiring story of overcoming adversity to achieve athletic success.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications and information about this award are available online at the Sports Unlimited, Inc. website using the link provided. The application process for this award requires two parts. First, students must complete the short online questionairre and include the email address they will submit the essay from. Next, students must write an essay of 500 to 1,000 words in response to the topic provided at the scholarship website. This essay must be saved as a word document, and the file must be named in the following format: First name, last name, state of residency, and date of birth (ie: John-Smith-CA-08-12-1996.docx for an applicant named John Smith from California who was born on Aug. 12, 1996.) The essay must then be submitted as an email attachment to the provided email address. All online application forms must be completed, and all essays must be received via email by the deadline date.
