Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a resident of Massachusetts.
  2. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  3. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  4. Must identify as gay, lesbian, bixesual, or transgender, or as a straight ally dedicated to LGBT causes.
  5. Must participate in athletics.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for graduating high school seniors in Massachusetts who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender. Applicants must participate in athletics and serve as a constant role-model or advocate for LGBT causes.

Application requirements for the FLAG Flag Football Scholarship are:

Additional Information: FLAG (Friends, Lesbians, and Gays) Flag Football will be awarding a $2,500 scholarship to a graduating Massachusetts high school student who has made high school and/or community sports programs safer for, and more inclusive of, LGBTQ student-athletes, as either a role model or ally. In line with the mission of our organization, students of all athletic skill levels, achievement, and contributions are encouraged to apply.

Award Amount: Up to $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available at the Greater Boston Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) website. In addition to a completed application form and essay responses, students must submit two letters of reference - one from a teacher or faculty member, and one from an individual who is familiar with the applicant's community service efforts. All application materials and supporting documents must be mailed to the address provided above, and must be postmarked by the deadline date.
