Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 27 awards offered annually. There is one weekly winner for each week of the school year, and two Scholar-Athletes of the Year, one male and one female.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior.
  3. Must reside in the North Central Florida area (Columbia, Dixie, Marion, Alachua, Gilchrist, Bradford, Hamilton, Madison, Putnam, Suwanee, and Union counties).
  4. Must be involved in athletics and be a major contributor to his/her sport.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to high school seniors in the North Central Florida area (Columbia, Dixie, Marion, Alachua, Gilchrist, Bradford, Hamilton, Madison, Putnam, Suwanee, and Union counties). Additional Information: Meldon Law has sponsored the Scholar Athlete Program since 1997. Every week of the school year, a high school senior in the North Central Florida area is chosen as the Scholar-Athlete of the Week. At the end of the school year, Meldon Law holds a banquet for all the winners and their families where the Scholar-Athletes of the Year are chosen.

Award Amount: The weekly winners each receive a $100 scholarship and a plaque. The Scholar-Athletes of the Year each receive a $1,000 scholarship and a trophy. Awards are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $167.

Program information is available on the Meldon Law website. Students must be nominated to be considered for this award. The nominator must provide the name of the student, his/her school, and as much contact information as possible for both the student and his/her coach. Nominations should be sent to Brandan McCalla at the email address provided. Nominations are accepted throughout the school year. Please note: The awards banquet is held in mid May, so nominations should be in prior to this date.
