Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid
The award pays for full tuition, required fees, and a book allowance. The length of the scholarship varies depending upon the certificate or degree the student pursues. This scholarship can be awarded up to a maximum of two years of undergraduate work at a Mississippi public two-year college and up to four years of undergraduate work at a public four-year university. If a student receives the Nissan Scholarship for two years at a public two-year college, they will be eligible for up to a maximum of two years undergraduate work at a public four-year university.
Contingent on availability of funds, the Nissan Scholarship Selection Committee will determine the number of Nissan Scholarships to be awarded annually.
All students must demonstrate leadership abilities through participation in extracurricular activities, and must demonstrate financial need by filing the FAFSA. Selection of the scholarship recipients will be based on the following criteria and scoring percentages: academic achievement, 50 percent; extracurricular activities, work, leadership, community involvement, 15 percent; quality of essay, 15 percent; and demonstrated financial need, 20 percent.
