Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually and is dependent on funding and the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must graduate from an Arizona high school.
  4. Must be a resident of Arizona.
  5. Must demonstrate academic excellence with a competitive grade point average.
  6. Must plan to attend Arizona State University.
  7. Must be a graduating high school senior planning to enroll as a freshman.
  8. Must enroll full time.
  9. Must plan to attend a college or university in Arizona.

Description: Arizona high school seniors with competitive grade point averages planning to enroll at Arizona State University are eligible for this award. Students will be considered upon admission.

Application requirements for the ASU – New American University Resident Scholarship are:

  • Official Transcript
  • Admissions application form
  • ACT/SAT scores
  • $50 app. fee
Additional Information: ASU is committed to helping a greater number of academically qualified students graduate than ever. The New American University Scholar awards are offered to outstanding freshmen as they pursue academic excellence at ASU. This program provides qualified students a monetary award and an environment focusing on knowledge, learning and research plus resources toward understanding and helping solve society's most pressing challenges. This scholarship includes the President's, Provost's and Dean's Awards.

Award Amount: $2,750 to $9,000 annually, renewable for up to three years (fall and spring semesters) as long as the student maintains full-time enrollment, completes 24 credit hours each academic year and has a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $9,000.

Applications for admission are available online from the Arizona State University (ASU) website. The university prefers that applications be submitted online. There is not a separate application for this award. An eligible student will be considered upon admission. In addition to the completed admissions application, the student must submit a $50 application fee, ACT/SAT scores, and transcripts. Although applications are accepted on a rolling basis, for maximum consideration, students should apply by Jan. 15 for automatic scholarship consideration, May 1 for the summer and fall semesters, or Dec. 1 for the spring semester.
