Number of Awards & Eligibility: Varies, based on the number of eligible applicants and the amount of funds available.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a resident of Utah.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be currently attending or planning to attend one of the following postsecondary institutions in Utah: Brigham Young University, College of Eastern Utah, Dixie State College of Utah, LDS Business College, Salt Lake Community College, Snow College, Southern Utah University, University of Utah, Utah State University, Utah Valley State College, Weber State University, or Westminster College.
  4. Must be enrolled at least half-time.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.
  6. Must demonstrate financial need.
  7. Must be a graduating high school senior or older and pursuing an undergraduate degree program.

Description: This award is available to Utah resident undergraduate students who are currently attending or planning to attend an eligible postsecondary institution in Utah. The student must demonstrate financial need and meet the need requirements for a federal Pell grant.

Application requirements for the Utah Higher Education Success Stipend Program are:

Additional Information: The Utah Higher Education Success Stipend Program is a state program, created by the Utah Legislature and governed by the Utah Board of Regents, established to bridge the gap between a financially needy student's resources and the cost of attendance at a Utah postsecondary institution. Financially needy student means a student who demonstrates the financial inability (either through the student's parents or family, or personally) to meet all or a portion of the cost of attendance at an institution for any period of attendance as defined by the board, after considering the student's expected family contribution (EFC). Priority is given to the most financially needy students. Financial need is generally determined from information provided on the FAFSA by calculating the students cost of attending college minus the EFC. Students must have a minimum EFC required to qualify for a Federal Pell Grant to be eligible. Each eligible participating institution determines the application procedures, deadlines, eligibility, and award amount. Students should contact the institution for additional details.

Award Amount: The award amount varies based on the student's demonstrated financial need, as determined by the participating institution. The award amount, including other financial aid from any source, and the expected family and personal contributions may not exceed the student's cost of attendance. Students should contact the financial aid office of the participating institution he/she plans to attend for additional details regarding the award amount.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
