Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in Santa Clara County, California.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.3 or higher.
  3. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.
  4. Must attend a public four-year university in California.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  6. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: This scholarship is available for high school seniors and undergraduate students in Santa Clara County California who have a grade point average of 3.3 or higher, unmet financial need, and a demonstrated commitment to community service.

Additional Information: These scholarships are provided to students in Santa Clara County, California who demonstrate superior academic achievement, financial need, and a commitment to community service. Selection will favor those students who express an interest in addressing issues related to quality of life in the greater Silicon Valley Community.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications and information about this award are available online at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation website using the link provided. To apply for this award, students must submit a completed application form as well as the following documentation: one letter of recommendation from a teacher, academic advisor, work or volunteer supervisor, youth leader, or personal acquaintance; an official high school transcript; a signed and dated personal essay of between 500 and 850 words; and proof of financial need in the form of a Student Aid Report of copy of the student's household Tax Form 1040. The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications and supporting documents must be received no later than 5 pm on the deadline date.
