Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of students receiving financial aid varies depending on the number of admitted freshman who demonstrate unmet financial need. In the prior academic year, more than 1,000 students were provided with aid. This represents more than 42% of Colgate University's undergraduate class.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Additional Information: The Colgate University financial aid program was created to support all of each student's unmet financial need. Awards are provided in the form of need-based scholarships and grants, then work-study opportunities, and finally, as a last resort, student loans.

Award Amount: Award amounts also vary depending on the amount of demonstrated financial need an individual student has. Last year, the average scholarship amount was $53,861. Awards are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study provided that the student remains in good academic standing and continues to show unmet financial need by updating their FAFSA and CSS profile each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $53,861.

To be considered for financial aid and scholarships at Colgate University, students must first be accepted for admissions. Students may submit either the Common Application or Coalition Application, and must include all supplemental sections for Colgate University. Upon admission, students must also submit the following to be considered for financial aid: the current year FAFSA and a CSS profile. Students are also strongly encouraged to apply for all New York State scholarships they may be eligible for. All applications must be received by November 15 for Early Decision or the final deadline of January 15 for Regular Decision admissions.
