Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a female.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must major in one of the following: computer engineering, computer science, or software engineering.
  5. Must be a full-time student.
  6. Must be a college sophomore at time of application. The student must be in a position to accept the scholarship for the school year in which it is being awarded.
  7. Preference will be given to students who attend one of the following universities: University of Wisconsin-Madison; University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; Milwaukee Schools of Engineering; Marquette University; University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Purdue University; Ohio State University; Case Western Reserve University; Penn State University; Georgia Tech; Florida A&M; Texas A&M; North Carolina A&T; or University of Michigan.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. and international female college sophomores majoring in computer engineering, computer science, or software engineering with a grade point average of 3.0. Preference is given to students who attend select schools as listed on the SWE website.

Additional Information: Applicants may not be current recipients of a renewable SWE scholarship or receiving full funding for education from another organization (such as members of the armed services attending U.S. military academies and students receiving full reimbursement from an employer.) The applicant must enroll or plan to enroll in a computer science or engineering program accredited by ABET. Accreditation information for specific programs is available online at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications must be completed online at the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) website. The applicant should submit only one application; she will be considered for all scholarships for which she is eligible. In addition to completing the online application, the student must upload the following documents: current official transcripts from all schools attended; a letter of acceptance to an ABET-accredited college or university (if a transfer student or first-year graduate student); and a resume. The student must also submit email contact information for two letters of recommendation. One letter must be from a teacher or college professor in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) field who is familiar with the student's work. The other letter must be from a person who has known the student for two or more years and who is not a relative or member of the student's family. Recommenders will be sent information regarding submission of their letters; the letters are due approximately one week after the student's application deadline. The online application and all required supporting materials must be submitted by 5 p.m. CT on the deadline date.
