Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually based on the number of qualified applicants and funding levels.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be a permanent resident of New Jersey for at least 12 consecutive months immediately prior to enrollment.
  4. Must be enrolled for 6 to 11 credits per term in an approved degree or certificate program.
  5. Must be a graduating high school senior or older and must have not already received a baccalaureate degree.
  6. Must be enrolled at a New Jersey county college.
  7. Must not be enrolled in a program leading to a degree in theology or divinity.

Description: This grant is available for New Jersey residents who are attending a New Jersey county college on a part-time basis. Students must demonstrate financial need.

Additional Information: The Tuition Aid Grant (TAG) is a state program created by the State of New Jersey which provides aid for needy New Jersey students. The Part-Time TAG Program provides pro-rated awards to eligible students enrolled part-time in an approved degree or certificate program at a New Jersey county college. Financial need is generally determined from information provided on the FAFSA by calculating the students cost of attending college minus the Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Students must meet the general eligibility requirements for receipt of state aid in the state of New Jersey and must not: owe repayment of a grant under any state or federal grant or scholarship program; be in default on any federal Title IV or state student loan program unless satisfactory arrangements to repay have been made; have previously received a bachelor's degree or an associate degree if enrolled at a two-year college; or be enrolled in a program of study leading to a degree in theology or divinity.

Award Amount: Awards may cover up to the cost of tuition and is dependent on several factors, including financial need, cost of attendance and available funding. Awards may be renewed annually providing the student continues to meet all the program requirements and maintain satisfactory academic progress (as determined by the institution).  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $837.

To apply, students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
