Number of Awards & Eligibility: Varies, all eligible students will be considered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be an incoming first time freshmen.
  2. Must be male.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must be accepted to and enrolled at Hampden-Sydney College, VA.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher or demonstrate strong academic performance in a rigorous college-preparatory program.
  6. Must have a SAT score of 1150 or higher or an ACT score of 24 or higher.

Description: This award is available to U.S. high school seniors who are planning to attend Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. Students must exhibited significant leadership in their school or community and have either a grade-point average of 3.35or better and at least 1150 on the SAT (24 composite on the ACT), or at least 1250 on the SAT (27 Composite on the ACT) and, in the opinion of Hampden-Sydney College, strong academic performance in a rigorous college-preparatory program.

Application requirements for the Hampden-Sydney College President’s Scholarships are:

Additional Information: Hampden-Sydney College offers a variety of scholarships to incoming students. Selection is determined by the Admissions Committee based on exceptional academic, leadership, and personal qualifications. Eligible students will be given the award which carries the highest recognition. Candidates for a President's Scholarships must exhibited significant leadership in their school or community and have either a grade-point average of 3.5 or better and at least 1150 on the SAT (24 composite on the ACT), or at least 1250 on the SAT (27 Composite on the ACT) and, in the opinion of Hampden-Sydney College, strong academic performance in a rigorous college-preparatory program.

Award Amount: Up to $18,000 annually, renewable for three additional years providing the student continues to meet the scholarship requirements.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $72,000.

Additional information can be found on the Hampden-Sydney College (HSC) website. To apply, students must apply for admission to Hampden-Sydney College. No separate scholarship application is required. In addition to a complete application, students must also submit high school transcripts, an essay, a teacher reference, and SAT or ACT test scores. For scholarship consideration, students must apply for admission for next fall by March 1.
