The Camras program is IIT's most prestigious scholarship. The program is named for Dr. Marvin Camras, an IIT professor and alumnus, who, during a long and distinguished career, invented magnetic recording tape. Dr. Camras' invention has touched the lives of everyone who has ever listened to a cassette or recorded a television program with videotape. Eligible candidates will receive an invitation to attend an interview weekend for the Camras Scholarship. Candidates will be required to submit an essay and resume before interviews commence. Candidates who attend the interview weekend will have the opportunity to meet current Camras scholars from around the country, tour the IIT campus, speak with faculty during departmental open houses, learn about student life, and stay with a student host in a residence hall or fraternity/sorority house. Camras Scholarship recipients will be required to participate in one of five pathways that provide a unique, co-curricular approach that will enable them to direct their professional development in alignment with individual career motivations and goals. The pathways include leadership, service, research, entrepreneurship, and athletics. NOTE: Transfer students are ineligible for this award.
