Research Assistants and Teaching Assistants Waiver This award is available for research and teaching assistants employed in Texas who are not residents of Texas; assistants’ spouses and children are also eligible. Eligible applicants must attend a public college or university in Texas.
Waiver for College Faculty and Their Dependents This award is available to non-Texas resident college teachers and professors who are employed at a public college or university in Texas. The waiver allows the teacher/professor and/or his/her immediate family members to pay resident tuition rates.
Mexican Citizens with Financial Need – Border Nations Waiver This award is available for Mexican citizens who are planning to attend a public college or university in Texas. The student must demonstrate financial need.
Dual Medical/Philosophy Degree Waiver (Biomedical Research Scholarship Student Waiver) This award is for international graduate students who are accepted into a clinical and biomedical sciences program at an eligible public institution in Texas. The student must hold a competitive academic scholarship or stipend from their institutions.
Texas Bordering States Waiver This award provides a waiver of non-resident tuition for students from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico or Oklahoma enrolled in certain public institutions in Texas.
Texas Competitive Scholarship Waiver This award is available for U.S. and international students who have been awarded a competitive scholarship of at least $1,000 and who plan to attend a public college or university in Texas.
Exemption for the Surviving Spouse and Minor Children of Certain Deceased Public Servants This award is available to Texas resident undergraduate students who are the surviving spouse and/or dependent children of certain Texas employees killed in the line of duty. Applicants must enroll at a public Texas college or university.
Exemption for Students under Conservatorship of the Dept. of Family and Protective Services This award is available for Texas resident students who have been in the care or conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS). Applicant must be enrolled in or planning to enroll in a public Texas college or university no later than his/her 25th birthday.
Exemption for Firefighters Taking Fire Science Courses This award is available for Texas resident firefighters who are enrolled in courses offered as part of a fire science curriculum. Applicants must be enrolled in a public Texas college or university.
Exemption for Peace Officers Disabled in the Line of Duty This award is available for Texas resident undergraduate students who are attending a public Texas college or university. Applicants must be permanently disabled as a result of an injury suffered during the performance of a duty as a peace officer of Texas or a political subdivision of Texas.
