Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, or Oklahoma.
  3. Must plan to attend a two-year institution in the Lamar University System or any public community technical college located in a county immediately adjacent to the state in which the non-resident student resides.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  5. Must be a high school senior or currently enrolled college student to apply.

Description: This award provides a waiver of non-resident tuition for students from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico or Oklahoma enrolled in certain public institutions in Texas.

Additional Information: This program was established to provide a waiver of nonresident tuition for students from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, or Oklahoma enrolled in certain public institutions in Texas.

Award Amount: The award allows residents of neighboring states who are enrolled in an eligible Texas institution where the program applies to pay a reduced tuition rate tuition cost. The tuition rate charged student's participating in this program is based on the rate similar institutions in the student's home state charge Texas residents to attend. Please note: Beginning in fall 2014, legislation will go into effect that adds a grade point average requirement for persons to receive continuation awards through this program. The student should contact his/her institution for more information.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
