Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must attend a Texas public institution.
  3. Must have received a competitive scholarship of at least $1,000 (or a combination of scholarships totaling at least $1,000). The student must have competed with other students, including Texas residents, for the award.
  4. Must be a high school senior or currently enrolled college/university student.

Description: This award is available for U.S. and international students who have been awarded a competitive scholarship of at least $1,000 and who plan to attend a public college or university in Texas.

Application requirements for the Texas Competitive Scholarship Waiver are:

  • Available from institution
Additional Information: This program was established to allow a public institution to grant a waiver of non-resident tuition charges to individuals who receive scholarships totalling at least $1,000 awarded by their institution in competition open both to residents and to non-residents.

Award Amount: This award is for a waiver of non-resident tuition. The value of the waiver is the difference between the non-resident and resident tuition rate. The student may receive a waiver of non-resident tuition for the period of time covered by the scholarship, not to exceed 12 months. Waivers may be received in any year in which the student meets the competitive scholarship requirements.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,604.
