Number of Awards & Eligibility: Varies, approximately 8,000 awards are disbursed each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Missouri.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  4. Must score within the top five percent on the ACT or SAT tests in the state of Missouri. The qualifying scores for the current academic year are: 30 or higher on the ACT; and 760/780 (critical reading/math) or higher on the SAT.
  5. Must be a graduating high school senior during the current academic year.
  6. Must graduate from a Missouri high school and plan to attend a participating postsecondary institution in Missouri.
  7. Must not be pursuing a degree or certificate in theology or divinity.

Description: This award is available to Missouri high school seniors who are planning to attend an eligible Missouri postsecondary institution. The student must have completed the SAT or ACT assessment during the senior year of high school and score within the top five percent of the state.

Additional Information: The Missouri Higher Education Academic Scholarship Program is a merit-based program that encourages top-ranked high school seniors to attend approved Missouri postsecondary schools. Individuals who have completed a home-school program or who have obtained a certificate of high school equivalence by passing the General Educational Development (GED) exam are also eligible.

Award Amount: Up to $3,000 annually, based on the students ACT and SAT scores, and renewable for up to 10 semesters or until the completion of a bachelor's degree, whichever occurs first.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,905.

There is no application required for this award. Students are automatically considered based on their ACT and/or SAT scores. Interested students can visit the Missouri Department of Higher Education (MDHE) website or contact their high school counselor for additional information on how to qualify. For award consideration, students must complete the ACT or SAT assessment and achieve a qualifying score by the June test dates during the student's senior year in high school. Only test scores achieved on national test dates or approved special test dates are acceptable. The deadline date is July 31 for test scores and/or any corrections made to a student's transcripts.
