The number of awards offered varies annually. Last year, 39 scholarships were awarded.
Nominees must be at least third-year college students, have excellent grades, and must have participated in lab and research work in their fields. Special consideration is not given to aeronautical/astronautical engineering students or those intending to pursue careers as astronauts. Special consideration is given to students who have shown initiative, creativity, excellence and/or resourcefulness in their field. One recipient from each institution is selected from the two nominees, based upon the required packages of individualized information provided by the schools.
