Each eligible student will receive an award until funds are exhausted.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  4. Must attend Saint Mary's University in Minnesota.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher OR an ACT/SAT score of 22/1030 or higher.
  6. Must rank in the top 25 percent of his/her class OR have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  7. Must have an ACT/SAT score of 22/1030 or higher OR rank in the top 25 percent of his/her class.
  8. Must plan to attend a college or university in Minnesota.

Description: U.S. high school seniors must meet two of the following three criteria to receive this award: a grade point average of 3.0, ACT/SAT scores of 22/1030 and class rank in the top 25 percent. Students will automatically receive the award upon admission to Saint Mary's University in Minnesota.

Application requirements for the SMU Academic Scholarships are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter (1 or more)
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • $25 app. fee (waived if online)
  • ACT/SAT scores
Additional Information: SMU automatically awards academic scholarships to new students when they apply for admission.

Award Amount: $8,000 to $20,000 annually, renewable for up to three years by maintaining a grade point average of 2.8, 3.0 or 3.2 (based on the level of the award). The award amount is dependent on the combination of grade point average, ACT/SAT scores and class rank.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $60,000.
