On March 6, 2002, Altrusa International of Starke recognized the need to establish a special scholarship program for women over the age of 25 who seek to change direction, pursue new career opportunities, or re-enter the job market after raising a family. The scholarship will be awarded based on the financial need as well as academic achievement. In concluding the application selection process, the finalists will be interviewed by Altrusa representatives. The winner will be selected from this group. Students may apply for a maximum of three scholarships as long as they meet the established criteria. Students can receive only one scholarship award per academic year. Scholarships are applied to the academic year awarded. Scholarships are non-transferable. A thank-you note to the scholarship donor must be received before the award is posted to the student's account.
