Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered each year may vary based on the number of qualified applicants and funding levels available.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident.
  3. Must be a resident of Alabama.
  4. Must enroll full time or part time.
  5. Must be classified as an undergraduate student.
  6. Must not pursue a course of study leading to a degree in theology, divinity, or other field of preparation for a religious vocation.
  7. Must attend a participating Alabama institution. A list of eligible institutions is available online the ACHE website under the "Student Grant Program Application" heading.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available to Alabama undergraduate students who are attending or planning to attend an independent postsecondary institution in Alabama. Students must not be enrolled in a program leading to a degree in theology, divinity, or other field of preparation for a religious vocation.

Additional Information: The Alabama Student Grant Program is a state student assistance program established Aug. 4, 1978 by the legislature of the state of Alabama and designed to provide financial assistance to residents of the state of Alabama for undergraduate non-sectarian, secular education at independent, nonprofit, postsecondary institutions of higher learning located within the state of Alabama. The program is not based on financial need.

Award Amount: Up to $1,200 per academic year  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,800.

Applications are available from the Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE) website and from the financial aid offices at participating institutions. Students must provide proof of Alabama residency as detailed on the application. The application must be completed and received by the student's institutional financial aid office by the deadline date.
