Exemption for the Surviving Spouse and Minor Children of Certain Deceased Public Servants
This award is available to Texas resident undergraduate students who are the surviving spouse and/or dependent children of certain Texas employees killed in the line of duty. Applicants must enroll at a public Texas college or university.

Waiver for College Faculty and Their Dependents
This award is available to non-Texas resident college teachers and professors who are employed at a public college or university in Texa. The waiver allows the teacher/professor and/or his/her immediate family members to pay resident tuition rates.

Stephen T. Kugle Scholarship
U.S. college sophomores or juniors currently enrolled in a public college or university in one of the states in ASME District E (Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming) are eligible for this award. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and major in mechanical engineering.

Exemption for Children of Disabled or Deceased Firemen, Police Officers, and Other Public Servants
This award is available to Texas resident students who are the children of persons who have been disabled or killed in the line of duty while serving the community. The applicant must apply before his/her 21st birthday.
Exemption for Children of U.S. Military who are Missing in Action or Prisoners of War (MIA/POWs)
This award is available to Texas resident undergradaute students who are children of persons listed as Missing in Action or Prisoners of War by the U.S. Department of Defense. The applicant must be 21 years of age or younger at the time of application.
Exemption for Firefighters Taking Fire Science Courses
This award is available for Texas resident firefighters who are enrolled in courses offered as part of a fire science curriculum. Applicants must be enrolled in a public Texas college or university.
Exemption for Highest Ranking High School Graduate
This award is for Texas resident high school seniors who graduate as valedictorians from a Texas high school and are planning to enroll in a public Texas college or university.
Exemption for Orphans of Texas Members of the U.S. Armed Forces or National Guard
This award is available to Texas resident undergraduate students who are dependent children of an individual who died as a result of injury or illness related to service in the U.S. military or the National Guard. Applicants must attend a public college or university in Texas.
Exemption for Peace Officers Disabled in the Line of Duty
This award is available for Texas resident undergraduate students who are attending a public Texas college or university. Applicants must be permanently disabled as a result of an injury suffered during the performance of a duty as a peace officer of Texas or a political subdivision of Texas.
Exemption for Texas Veterans (Hazlewood Exemption)
This award is available to honorably discharged or separated Texas veterans and to eligible dependent children and spouses of Texas veterans who are planning to attend a public Texas college or university.
Mexican Citizens with Financial Need - Border County Waiver
This award is available for Mexican students who demonstrate financial need and who are planning to enroll at one of the following public Texas colleges or universities: Sul Ross State University, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Texas Southmost College, Texas State Technical College-Harlingen, University of Texas at Brownsville, University of Texas at El Paso, and University of Texas Pan American.
Mexican Citizens with Financial Need - Border Nations Waiver
This award is available for Mexican citizens who are planning to attend a public college or university in Texas. The student must demonstrate financial need.
