Number of Awards & Eligibility: Varies, all qualified applicants will be considered depending on the amount of funding available.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a Texas resident.
  3. Must enroll within 16 months of high school graduation OR no more than 12 months after receiving their associate's degree.
  4. Must enroll in a non-profit public college or university in Texas.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  6. Must graduate from an accredited high school in Texas OR earn an associate degree from a public technical, state or community college in Texas.
  7. Must demonstrate financial need.

Description: This award is available to Texas high school graduates, or undergraduate students who earned an associate degree from a public technical, state or community college in Texas, who are planning to attend a public university in Texas. Students must demonstrate financial need and have an Expected Family Contribution of $5,233 or less.

Application requirements for the TEXAS (Toward Excellence, Access, and Success) Grant Program are:

Additional Information: The TEXAS (Towards Excellence, Access and Success) Grant is a state program, administered through the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, established ensure that well-prepared high school graduates with financial need could go to college. Students must have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $4,800 or to be eligible for this award. The EFC is calculated using a federal formula based on the information provided on the student's FAFSA. Students should contact the financial aid office of his/her college for additional information.

Award Amount: The award amount may vary based on the type of institution the recipient is attending. For the current academic year, the maximum amount is: $8,720 per year for public universities and state college students; $2,832 per year for public community college students; and $4,572 per year for public technical college students. Students entering the program from high school who continue in college and who meet program academic standards can receive awards for up to 150 semester credit hours, until they receive a bachelor's degree, or for five years if enrolled in a 4-year degree plan or six years if enrolled in a 5-year degree plan, whichever comes first. Students entering the program based on acquisition of an associate's degree who continue in college and who meet program academic standards can receive awards for up to 90 semester credit hours, until they receive a bachelor's degree, or for three years if enrolled in a 4-year degree plan or four years if enrolled in a 5-year degree plan, whichever comes first.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,500.
