Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must meet admissions requirements and be accepted to the University of North Florida.
  4. Must enroll as a junior, senior, or graduate student in the UNF College of Education and Human Services. Please note: Doctoral students must complete at least one academic year and earn a minimum of 12 credits in their field of study.
  5. Must earn a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must major in education, with first preference given to doctor of education students majoring in educational leadership; second preference given to doctor of education students in other programs; and third preference given to master of education students.
  7. If a graduate student, must enroll part time (6 credit hours) each semester and earn a minimum of 12 credits by the end of each academic year. If an undergraduate student, must enroll full time (12 credit hours)each semester and earn a minimum of 24 credits by the end of each academic year.

Description: This scholarship/fellowship is open to U.S. college juniors, seniors, and graduate students at the University of North Florida College of Education and Human Services who are majoring in education. First preference is given to doctor of education students majoring in educational leadership; second preference is given to doctor of education students in other programs; and third preference is given to master of education students.

Additional Information: Recipients are chosen by a selection committee. Students will be notified of their selection status in April or May. Recipients will be recognized at an awards reception in the fall. Students must attend the awards reception as a condition of receiving the scholarship or fellowship. Recipients must meet the following responsibilities: maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher; consent to release grades to the Division of Institutional Advancement for the purpose of reporting to the donor; comply with all University regulations, rules, and codes of conduct governing students on campus; and remain in good standing as a student.

Award Amount: $1,200 annually, disbursed in equal installments in fall and spring terms.Current recipients may apply for renewal and will be given preference pending availability of funding, if all of the preceding requirements have been met. No student will be eligible to receive more than six semesters of fellowship support if enrolled as a graduate student and no more than four semesters of scholarship support if enrolled as an undergraduate student.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,200.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in January for a refreshed application deadline date.Applications are available online from the University of North Florida (UNF) College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) website. The student need only submit one application for all UNF COEHS scholarships for which he/she wishes to be considered.In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a typed, double-spaced essay of no more than three pages (in 11-point font) describing how he/she will benefit from the scholarship; two professional letters of recommendation that are signed, printed on official letterhead, and dated within 12 months of the application; and a resume or curriculum vitae of four pages or less that includes educational qualifications, work experience, teaching experience, leadership positions held and professional activities. The student must also submit official transcripts if he/she is not currently enrolled at UNF.The application and all required documentation must be submitted together as attachments in one email. Applications must be submitted by email by 5:00 p.m. ET on the deadline date. Only electronic applications will be considered.
