South Dakota Board of Regents
Awards provide a tuition waiver equal to the cost of tuition at any South Dakota state supported college. The total award amount is dependent on the number of hours the student is enrolled and the cost of tuition, as determined annually by the state of South Dakota. Awards are renewable for as long as the student remains eligible.
Varies, all eligible applicants will be awarded.
Children who are under the age of 25, are residents of South Dakota, and whose mother or father was killed in action or died of other causes while on active duty in the armed forces, are eligible to receive this tuition waiver at a state supported institution. This program includes only state-support courses - primarily those that are campus-based and involve face-to-face instruction. It does not include courses that are offered at learning centers and other off-campus locations or those that entail distance learning. The deceased parent must have been a bona fide resident of South Dakota for at least six (6) months immediately preceding entry into active service. For additional information students can contact the local County Veterans Service Officer or Financial Aids Officer.
