Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. In 2013, there were 14,186 Minnesota residents attending Wisconsin institutions under this program.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Minnesota.
  3. Must plan to attend an eligible Wisconsin public college or university.
  4. Must be a high school senior OR current undergraduate or graduate student.
  5. Must be a U.S citizen or eligible non-citizen.

Description: This program is open to Minnesota undergraduate and graduate students who are planning to attend a public college or university in Wisconsin. The student must be enrolled in an eligible program to qualify, and will pay a reduced tuition rate.

Application requirements for the Minnesota/Wisconsin Reciprocity Agreement are:

Additional Information: Minnesota has agreements with neighboring states to provide lower tuition for Minnesota residents to attend public colleges and universities in those states. This is called reciprocity. Typically, non-resident admission fees and tuition are reduced (or eliminated). If the student is a Minnesota resident, he/she is eligible for reciprocity if he/she attends any North Dakota public college or university. If the student is a North Dakota resident, he/she is eligible if he/she attends any Minnesota public college or university. Please note: Wisconsin students who are enrolled in the College of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, or Dentistry at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities or Duluth, and Minnesota residents enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison or Milwaukee medical or veterinary medicine schools are not eligible for tuition reciprocity.

Award Amount: This award provides students with reduced out-of-state tuition cost. The reduction amount varies by institution. Typically, students attending participating Wisconsin schools pay the higher of the tuition charged by the Wisconsin college attended or the tuition charged at a similar Minnesota school. Graduate or law students attending a participating school in the other state (Minnesota or Wisconsin) pay whichever state's tuition rate is higher. Detailed information on tuition rates is available online at www.ohe.state.mn.us/mPg.cfm?PageID=100. Reciprocity benefits will be automatically renewed each year providing the student continues to attend a reciprocity college or university and earned credits in the previous 12 months from the same school.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,000.
