Number of Awards & Eligibility: Varies, all on-time applicants will be considered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a domiciliary resident of Virginia (as defined by the Domicile Guidelines and the Code of Virginia).
  3. Must be enrolled ful-time.
  4. Must attend an accredited private, non-profit college or university in Virginia.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or a U.S. citizen national.
  6. Must not enroll in religious training or theological education.
  7. Must be enrolled in an eligible undergraduate, graduate, or professional degree program.

Description: This award is for Virginia resident undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled at an eligible private college or university in Virginia. Students must be enrolled in an eligible program in any area other than those providing religious training or theological education.

Additional Information: The Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant Program (VTAG) is a state program, administered by the commonwealth of Virginia, established to provide financial assistance resident students who attend accredited private, non-profit colleges and universities in Virginia. VTAG is a non-need based grant and is available to both undergraduate and graduate students. For additional information about the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant, contact the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, Financial Aid department at 804-225-2632 or visit the website at www.schev.edu, or contact the financial aid office at participating institutions at which the student plans to attend.

Award Amount: The award amount is based on the number of eligible students and the amount of funds appropriated by the General Assembly. Maximum 2019-20 Annual Award: Undergraduate= $3,400 Graduate= $1,700  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,100.

Applications for the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant Program (VTAG) are available online from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) website at: www.schev.edu/schev/formsIndex.asp. Applications may also be acquired from the financial aid office of participating private institutions. Completed applications must be submitted to the financial aid office of the institution on, or before, July 31 prior to the fall semester of enrollment. Applications submitted after July 31, but no later than December 1, will be considered for an award only if funds are available.
