Number of Awards & Eligibility: Varies, based on the number of eligible students.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be accepted to Winthrop University.
  2. Must be an incoming first-year freshmen.
  3. Must be a legal resident of South Carolina.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must enroll full-time (12 credit hours or more).
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  7. Must have a SAT (CR and M) score of 1300 or higher, or an ACT score of 29 or higher.
  8. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: This award is available to South Carolina high school seniors who are planning to attend Winthrop University. The student must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, a SAT (CR and M) score of 1300 or higher or, an ACT score of 29 or higher and enroll full-time.

Additional Information: Winthrop University is a comprehensive teaching university committed to academic excellence, cultural diversity, and public service. It is a medium-sized, residential institution with national-caliber academic programs and strong community spirit.

Award Amount: Up to $7,000 annually, renewable for 3 additional years provided the students maintains full-time enrollment with 12 or more credit hours and a 3.0 grade point average.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,000.

Students who apply for admission Winthrop University (WU) will be automatically evaluated for scholarship eligibility during the admission process. A separate scholarship application is not required. Interested students must contact Winthrop University admissions by phone, e-mail, mail, or website to request an application packet, or apply online from the college website. The complete application for admission will include the application form, application fee, official high school transcript, and SAT or ACT scores. For scholarship consideration, a completed application must be received by the Office of Admissions by February 1 for priority consideration.
