In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  3. Must be pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, business administration, information technology, or a related field.
  4. Must be attending a U.S. accredited community college or university full time.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must be pursuing an undergraduate or master's degree.
  7. Must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students who are Hispanic or of Hispanic descent. Students must be pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, business administration, information technology, or a related field; and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: Once HSF receives and reviews the scholarship applications, they conduct a screen of each applicant based on information submitted in his/her online application. The HSF will then decide which applicants will obtain semifinalist status. All students who are semifinalists will be contacted via email and be required to submit additional documents to verify statements made on their application. Semifinalists will receive specific directions with their notifications on how to complete their semifinalist packages. Students must demonstrate financial need.

Award Amount: $1,250 to $10,000 annually, non-renewable. The majority of scholarships are $1,250, with outstanding students being awarded $10,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,625.

Information on this scholarship is available on the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) website by clicking on the 'Our Chapter' tab on the top menu, and then clicking on the 'Students' option. Students must apply online for this scholarship on the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) website. If the student has never applied for an HSF scholarship before, he/she will be required to create an account on the site before completing the application. In addition to the completed application form, the student must submit the following online: an essay, resume, and letter of recommendation. The student must provide contact information for his/her recommender online. HSF will then email the recommender to prompt him/her to submit his/her letter of recommendation online. Paper letters are not accepted. The student must also submit the following items by postal mail: an official transcript; proof of family income; and proof of citizenship status. These items must be sent to the address provided. All items that are submitted online must be submitted by the deadline date; all items that are sent by postal mail must be postmarked by the deadline date.
