Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must major in accounting.
  3. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  5. Must plan to enroll full time.
  6. Must be a resident of one of the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas Panhandle.
  7. Must attend Amarillo College, Texas Tech University, or West Texas A&M University.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Undergraduate students residing in one of the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas panhandle OR those who are planning to attend an eligible Texas college are eligible for this award. Students must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher, and plan to enroll full time in an accounting program.

Application requirements for the Alvin A. and Hattie Mae Bush Accounting Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • IRS 1040 Form
  • ACT/SAT scores
Additional Information: This scholarship was established in 1978 by the late Alvin A. and Hattie Mae Bush, longtime residents of Amarillo. Bush, an accountant and entrepreneur, enjoyed giving a helping hand to younger people. Recipients are selected by the Amarillo Area Foundation Scholarship Screening Committee.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. The student must reapply each year and maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher while in college.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
