Number of Awards & Eligibility: The National Corn Growers Association and BASF Corporation awards five scholarships to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in any field.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be entering at least his/her second undergraduate year at an accredited junior college, college or university.
  2. Must be an NCGA member or son/daughter of an NCGA member.

Berg Academic Excellence Undergraduate Scholarship in Agriculture is available for undergraduate students member or son/daughter of an NCGA member pursuing a degree in any field.

  • Need to be an NCGA member or son/daughter of an NCGA member.
Additional Information: The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA), founded in 1957, works to create more opportunity for corn growers. They offer a total of 5 scholarships. The NCGA-BASF college scholarship program is named in honor of Ohio farmer William C. Berg. William was both a retired postal worker and farmer for over 40 years. He also devoted himself to lobby on behalf of sound agriculture policy.

Award Amount: Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,500 and are non-renewable. Recipients and a parent or guardian also get paid travel and lodging to attend the 2020 Commodity Classic in San Antonio, Texas to be recognized at the NCGA Banquet and have the opportunity to learn more about modern agriculture.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applicant must complete a form on provider website. A complete application packet includes current transcript from junior college, college or university, three letters of recommendation, current resume, 500-word essay answering the question "How will YOU positively impact agriculture in your future career?" and 4-5 paragraphs explaining “What are the three most important issues facing agriculture today?” All applications must be submitted by the deadline date.
