In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a graduating high school senior who is enrolled in high school full time and has applied to and received acceptance to a two- or four-year college or university.
  3. Must be a resident of Nassau or Suffolk counties in New York.
  4. Must reside or have resided with a parent or guardian who is a survivor or victim of cancer (other than breast cancer).

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. and international high school seniors who reside in Nassau or Suffolk counties in New York and aspire to be teachers. Students must reside or have resided with a parent or guardian who is a survivor or victim of cancer (other than breast cancer). Those aspiring to become teachers will be given extra consideration for this scholarship but pursuing an education to become an educator IS NOT required to apply.

Additional Information: These scholarships are not need-based and may be awarded to anyone who applies, based solely on the decision of the Maria A. Sciara Scholarship Committee of the Board of LI2DAY. This is a $2,500 scholarship that will be awarded to 3 graduating seniors in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The application and all accompanying materials must be submitted ONLINE or by mail. No incomplete applications will be considered.The due date applications is April 1, 2020. Mail-in applications post-marked by April 1st will be accepted. There will be no exceptions. The applicant is responsible for ensuring that all items listed below are submitted by April 1, 2020 or post marked by April 1, 2020 and mailed to: Jill Stone Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory One Bungtown Rd, Cold Spring Harbor, NY 11724

Award Amount: 2500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available on the LI2Day Walk website. In addition to a completed application, each student must submit the following materials: a personal statement of one page or less discussing the topics listed on the application; one letter of recommendation; a copy of his/her official high school transcript; and proof of acceptance into an educational program for the upcoming academic year. The application and supporting materials must be submitted online by the deadline date.
