Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to ten awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must plan to major in fine arts, science, or the humanities.
  2. Must have a combined math/verbal/writing SAT score of 1090 or higher.
  3. Must be a resident of Dallas, Texas.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.1 or higher.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.
  6. Must be female.

Description: The Matheon Scholarship Fund accepts applications from current high school senior women in Dallas, Texas who plan to major in fine arts, science, or the humanities at a college or university in Texas. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.1 or higher and a combined math/verbal/writing SAT score of 1500 or higher.

Additional Information: The Matheon Scholarship Fund is available for female students in Dallas, TX who are planning to pursue a higher education in humanities, science, or the fine arts. Award selection is based primarily on academic achievement as demonstrated through standardized test scores (ACT and SAT). The Communities Foundation of Texas has been a partner with local individuals, families and businesses for raising the quality of life in the Texas community since 1953. Providing scholarships to deserving students is an important part of this mission, in the hopes that financial assistance will help these students to reach their full potential in high schools, colleges and continuing education across the country.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications and additional information are available on The Communities Foundation of Texas website. To apply for this award, students must first register an account with The Communities Foundation of Texas. Upon registration, students will be prompted to supply personal information for the general application. In addition to the online general application, the student must submit the following: evidence of eligibility for admission to an accredited four-year college or university (transcript, record, or endorsement letter by school official on school stationery will suffice); and an essay of a suggested length of 500 to 1,000 words on one of the topics listed on the application. All applications, essay responses, and electronic supporting documents must be submitted online prior to the deadline.
