The award is based on the financial need of the student. The Teacher Advisory Committee will screen applications and rank individuals based on the applicant’s academic eligibility, ability to describe the need for the program, and intent to work in a designated shortage area as approved by the New Mexico Higher Education Department. Students will receive award or denial notification by August 1. Recipients of this award must agree to a service contract to provide one year of service for each academic year of funding. Failure to meet the obligation may result in severe principal and interest penalties.
