Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a native-born or naturalized U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States. Preference will be given to veterans who served overseas.
  4. Must have a high school diploma or GED and must have been accepted or currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in pursuit of an undergraduate degree.
  5. Must be studying in the field of music.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. undergraduate students who are military veterans and pursuing a degree in the field of music. Preference will be given to veterans who served overseas.

Additional Information: The purpose of the award is to provide financial assistance to a military veteran whose service to his/her country has caused a delay in the pursuit of a career in music. There will be no discrimination because of age, race, or religion; however, preference will be given to a veteran who has served overseas. The veteran must have outstanding musical talent, excellent background, and the highest recommendations as to worthiness. The letters of recommendation should also show need, character, and potential ability.

Award Amount: $2,250 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,250.

Applications are available on the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) website by clicking on the 'Senior Division' link.In addition to a completed application, each student must submit the following materials: a copy of his/her military discharge papers and proof of overseas service, if applicable; a current photograph; six letters of recommendation showing his/her worthiness, need, character, background, musical talent, and potential ability; a 30-minute performance/audition CD (must be playable on a CD player); and an entry fee of $20 (payable to NFMC).Applications must be mailed to the address provided and must be received by the deadline date.
