Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 13 scholarships will be awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.
  3. Must be a legal resident of Carpinteria, Santa Barbara, or Goleta, California.
  4. Must plan to major in art or an art-related field.
  5. Must be a student who has attended at least four of the six secondary grade school years at a southern Santa Barbara County school and be a senior graduating from a southern Santa Barbara County high school to apply for this undergraduate award.

Applicants must plan to major in art or an art-related field and be willing to submit a portfolio of their works.

Additional Information: For more than fourty years, the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara has helped local students pay for their higher education, be it a vocational, community college, or four year college or graduate school. Through the granting of scholarships, the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara inspires, encourages, and supports Santa Barbara County students in their pursuit of college, graduate, and vocational education. This is a program for the traditional arts. The Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara will not consider films, computer/digital art, or any type of performance art. After applications are evaluated, only a select number of students will be asked to deliver their portfolio of art pieces for judging. Applicants will receive a letter in December regarding judging selections and judging date/location. For applicants who are selected for the art judging competition, art materials must be delivered and picked at the Ridley-Tree Art Education Center at 1600 Santa Barbara Street, Santa Barbara, CA. Post-it notes must cover the artist's signature/name on the front of each piece of art, so be sure that the artist's name is also on the back of each exhibited item. Judges request that the approximate date each piece was created be on the front of each piece. The Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara is not responsible for unclaimed portfolios.

Award Amount: Award amount varies annually according to the amount of funds available to the provider. This award is non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,600.

Applications are available online on the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara website. In addition to the completed digital application, the student must submit an official high school transcript, official documentation of SAT scores, the Annual Art Scholarship Questionnaire, and a college enrollment plan. Students must also submit the Consent & Release form available from the Foundation website. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted online by the deadline date.
