Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must meet admissions requirements of the University of North Florida.
  4. Must be accepted in the College of Education and Human Services as an undergraduate or graduate student.
  5. Must pursue a degree in education with preference given to students wishing to teach in an urban school and/or specialize in ESOL teaching strategies.
  6. Must enroll full time (12 or more credit hours) each semester and earn 24 credits by the end of each academic year, if an undergraduate student; OR enroll part time (6 or more credit hours) each semester if a graduate student.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students accepted into the University of North Florida's College of Education and Human Services. Students must pursue a degree in education with preference given to students wishing to teach in an urban school and/or specialize in ESOL teaching strategies.

Application requirements for the UNF St. Joe Company Endowed Scholarship/Fellowship are:

Additional Information: Recipients are chosen by a selection committee. Students will be notified of their selection status in April or May. Recipients will be recognized at an awards reception in the fall. Students must attend the awards reception as a condition of receiving the scholarship or fellowship. Recipients must meet the following responsibilities: maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher if a junior or senior student, or 3.0 or higher if a graduate student; consent to release grades to the Division of Institutional Advancement for the purpose of reporting to the donor; comply with all University regulations, rules, and codes of conduct governing students on campus; and remain in good standing as a student.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, disbursed in equal installments for fall and spring terms. Current recipients may apply for renewal and will be given preference, pending availability of funding, and if all scholarship/fellowship requirements have been met. Undergraduate students will be eligible to receive up to 4 semesters or 65 credit hours of scholarship support. Graduate students will be eligible to receive up to 6 semesters or 36 credit hours of fellowship support.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,000.
