Teachers of Accounting at Two-Year Colleges (TACTYC)

Number of Awards & Eligibility: Five awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be currently attending a two-year college with plans to transfer to a four-year institution for the upcoming academic year. The student must have completed a minimum of 20 college semester credit hours, 6 of which must be in accounting, by the end of the current spring semester.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  5. Must be a full-time or part-time student, and must enroll in six or more credit hours in the upcoming academic year.
  6. Must major in accounting.
  7. Must have made a commitment to a career in accounting.

Description: This award is for U.S. students who currently attend a two-year college and plan to transfer to a four-year college to pursue a bachelor's degree in accounting. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: Teachers of Accounting at Two-Year Colleges was founded in 1974 by a group of innovative educators from the New York area. Since its creation, TACTYC's primary objective has been and continues to be the advancement of accounting education. Winners will be contacted by April 15. The official announcement will be made at the TACTYC conference in mid-May and will be posted to the TACTYC website around the first week of June.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Please note: Scholarship awards must be used during the upcoming academic year or be forfeited.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Scholarship information are available online on the Teachers of Accounting at Two-Year Colleges (TACTYC) website. All students must apply via the online application hosted on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) website at www.thiswaytocpa.com/education/scholarship-search/. Each student must upload the following supporting documents to the application: a one- to two-page self-description which includes academic and professional goals; a one- to two-page essay on the accounting case study provided on the application; and student transcripts from all colleges attended (unofficial copies acceptable). Please note: If the transcript does not indicate courses in progress for the current spring semester, additional documentation will be required. Each student must also provide the name and school email address of an accounting faculty member who will provide a letter of recommendation on his/her behalf. The faculty member will be sent instructions for submission of the letter. The complete online application must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on the deadline date. A student may save his/her application and make changes until the deadline.
