Greater Kansas City Community Foundation
$1,000 annually, renewable for up to three additional years.
One award offered annually.
This scholarship is provided annually in memory of Dorothy Tutt Asbury, a longtime resident of Taft, Texas, who had a strong passion for learning and community service. Each year, one or more new scholarships will be awarded to local area students who share this enthusiasm for education and community participation. Award selection will considered academic achievement, as well as the difficulty of the applicant's academic course of study. The scholarship committee will also consider specific evidence provided in the application that demonstrates the applicant's commitment to community service through participation and involvement with local community groups. The administration and management of this scholarship is provided through the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. Originally founded in 1978, the GKCCF was designed to provide a single point of support and professional charity organization for various charitable organizations throughout the local area. Over the years, the scope of this mission has expanded to include grants, scholarships, and other philanthropic initiatives within Kansas City, throughout the Midwest, and even nation-wide. Questions about this scholarship and other inquiries should be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
