In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).
  3. Must plan to have a career in public relations.
  4. Must be a college freshman or older to apply for this undergraduate award.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Additional Information: The purpose of the award is to recognize an undergraduate student who has demonstrated an understanding and commitment to achieving excellence as a future public relations professional.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable. The award will be payable to the recipient's university for the recipient's use, and can only be used to fund educational pursuits.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applications are available from the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty or professional advisor. The student must also submit an essay of 1,000 to 1,200 words describing what excellence in public relations is and how the student plans to acheive it in his/her own career. The essay should address the ethical and work standards that he/she believes will be required as a public relations professional, and describe how he/she will personally aspire to excellence in these areas. The essay should also list the leadership qualities that the student believes to be the most important in public relations, and why.The completed application and all supporting materials should be mailed or faxed using the contact information provided, and must be received by the PRSSA by the deadline date.
